Wednesday 22nd November 2006 Learning Disability Today, London Minister asks for a report The Minister, Ivan Lewis, was asked the following question about the lack of support for carers with learning difficulties by both Eve Rank and Richard West. “We are here today because we are both carers with learning difficulties. There are lots of people like us who care for partners or parents who are getting older. At the moment we are ignored by services and others and we have been left out on our own. We are leading a campaign to be recognised and to get the support we need. What commitment will the minister give to help and support us in this work?” The Minister asked for us to get together with others to talk about the situation more and then to report back to him.
