Sadly, our colleague John Atkinson died on 12th February 2001, just before the White Paper was published. John had been ill for some time. In addition to his work on the learning disability strategy, John was also a member of Mencap's National Assembly, various Gateway committees and Advocacy in Action. John leaves his wife, Helen and son Marqus.
